X Faces UK Data Regulator Probe Over Sexualised AI-Generated Images

The UK’s data protection authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office, has begun an investigation into X to examine compliance with personal data law in relation to the generation of sexualised AI images using the Grok chatbot.

The case arose amid concerns that the Grok chatbot enabled the creation and circulation of sexualised deepfake content involving women and children, raising the risk of serious harm to the public.

The regulator stated that appropriate action would follow if legal obligations were found to have been breached, while Ofcom clarified that its ongoing Online Safety Act probe relates only to X and not xAI.
