Coldplay Concert: Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Seeking Regulation Of Ticket Scalping For Events

The Supreme Court dismissed a PIL seeking guidelines to regulate ticket scalping and black marketing of online tickets for concerts like Coldplay’s and large events. 

The bench led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna refused to interfere with Bombay HC’s earlier dismissal but allowed the petitioner to make representations before the Centre and State Governments.

The council referred to international practices like tickets in the name of the person (buyer) and regulating resale through official platforms.

However, the Court noted that such concerns could be addressed through proper channels, emphasizing that more pressing matters were before it. (Amit Vyas vs Union of India)
