FIR Lodged in Bengaluru Against Lawyer Who Tried to Hurl Shoe at CJI

In a dramatic turn, Bengaluru police have registered a zero FIR against Adv. Rakesh Kishore for allegedly attempting to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai inside the Supreme Court to "protect the image of the judiciary".

The case was filed by another advocate, Bhaktavachala, under Sections 132 and 133 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning assault or criminal force to deter a public servant and to dishonour a person.

Although the incident occurred in New Delhi, the Vidhana Soudha police in Bengaluru took cognisance and will transfer the case to the appropriate jurisdictional police station for further investigation.
