Justice Yashwant Varma Indicted by In-House Panel Over Cash Discovery

An in-house committee has indicted Justice Yashwant Varma after large sums of unaccounted cash were found at his Delhi residence during a fire in March 2025.

The committee submitted its report to Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, offering Varma the option to resign.

According to the findings, Justice Varma has been given the option to resign, failing which the report will be forwarded to Parliament to initiate impeachment proceedings. He has been asked to respond to the CJI by May 9.

The case arose after firefighters responding to a fire at his residence discovered large sums of unaccounted cash.
