Supreme Court Directs Samay Raina, Others To Conduct Fundraising Programmes For Persons With Disabilities

The Supreme Court has directed comedian Samay Raina and four other content creators to conduct at least two fundraising programs every month to support persons with disabilities.

The order arose from a petition filed by Cure SMA India Foundation, which alleged that the comedians made insensitive remarks regarding the high-cost treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and mocked persons with disabilities.

The Court noted that the respondents had voluntarily agreed to organise such programmes, and may feature specially-abled individuals, including those with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), to share success stories and raise awareness, thereby using their platforms for constructive and dignity-affirming outreach.
