The Supreme Court has stayed the Karnataka High Court’s interim order on the state’s ₹200 movie ticket price cap, granting temporary relief to the Multiplex Association of India.
A bench issued notice on petitions filed by the Association and others challenging the High Court’s decision upholding the government’s pricing regulation. The apex court’s interim order effectively pauses the implementation of the cap until the legal issues are examined.
The High Court had earlier directed multiplexes to display a summary of the government’s notification at ticket counters, booking portals, and on-screen for at least 30 seconds before each show.
