The Delhi High Court's Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma today announced that the court will initiate contempt of court proceedings against certain accused in the excise policy case and others for making defamatory allegations on social media.
Justice Sharma observed that vilifying remarks were directed at the judiciary. The Court is currently hearing a CBI plea challenging the discharge of 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
Previously, the Court rejected recusal applications from the AAP leaders, stating that politicians cannot sow seeds of mistrust to put the judiciary on trial.
A detailed order regarding the contempt proceedings and specific individuals involved is expected today.
